Redwood Building
Two stories of white glazed brick, built in 1911. Three lion's heads look down from the parapet, the middle one over a stone cut with the date. Tall windows run the upper floor; the storefront fills the ground.
Washing machines were sold here in the 1920s. By 1929 it was the White Dove Lunch, where seventy-five cents bought soup, roast chicken and pie. By 1969 it was the Redwood Restaurant, open from half past five in the morning. The building takes its name from it.
Urban Equity Properties restored the upper floor as residences. Below, the storefront is open, as it has been for a century.
